Search the job advertisements to discover the kinds of technology competencies that a company is seeking and possibly a future direction.

  • Many companies are beginning to post positions at their sites. Search the home page of the company of interest.
  • Deja News - search for a company name and the word "position", search for former employee names and the word "resume".

Trade Show and Conference Press

One way of checking out the competition is to visit their booths at conferences and tradeshows. Some links to Tradeshows/Conferences in the biotech arena can be found at the BioTactics Calendar page. Alternately, on the net you can search the TSCentral site and discover what new products   they are bringing out and who their target markets are (limited in scope... may not have many biotech specific references).

Overviews by Industry Executives

The Wall Street Week Transcript, available on Dow Jones Interactive and through Maryland Public Radio (1-800-223-3678), includes presentations by industry gurus, company executives, and Wall Street analysts. These presentations not only provide details on the strategies of particular companies, but also include analyses by the leaders of their industries.

  • Society of Competitive Intelligence Professional. The society also publishes an interesting online newsletter.
  • Fuld & Company- offers a useful Internet Intelligence Index and Guide online, including questions to ask when faced with specific competitive situations and lists of sources. There are also hyperlinks to to general business and industry-specific Internet sites related to collecting competitive intelligence.§
