Academic Sources Association
of University Technology Managers (AUTM). Charges: None. Excellent web site with links to University, Goverment
(probably the best list on the net including NIH, DOD, DOE, US Millitary, NASA, and State
agencies), and organizational
tech transfer offices and databases. Includes some links to organizations outside of the
US. In addition, there are many other useful links:
Technology
Exchange.
An interesting use of push technology can be found at the Technology exchange developed by Yale
University. Representatives from tech transfer offices (seeking or selling
technology) can sign up to have info on technologies of interest sent to you
electronically. Lists are provided for participating universities (92) and companies (240).
Combined Federal and Corporate Databases:
Knowledge
Express Database Service (KEDS) provides access to 23+ databases. KEDS covers both
governmental and corporate technology data sources. Patents, business news sources,
financing sources, licensing opportunities, research activities, laboratory and company
directories, technology needs/capabilities sites, as well as several financial databases. Charges:
$3500 for 1 yr. site license.
Note: This is an extremely powerful method to
search for technology. If your corporation does not have a license, you may be able
to find an information broker who will perform a search for you under their license.
A number of these databases can be accessed directly
from their publisher (*); fees may apply.
