Dept. of State: Consular
Affairs, Embassies
Dept. of State provides commercial services in embassies and
maintains regional bureaus and country desk officers.

Department of Commerce
Has regional, national, and international offices. One of the most
useful starting points for exploring trade with another country is the International Trade
Administration office of the DOC.
International Trade Administration (ITA)

Part of the Dept. of Commerce, the ITA is the primary
agency for promoting exporting and offering information on markets and trade practices
worldwide.

Export Assistance Centers and The Commercial Service: (some
services have fees range from $150 to $600) have offices in the US and in more than 70
countries abroad. I have talked to some industry segment consultants in Brazil and found
them to be an excellent source for finding access to the specific information that I
