  • The Trade Information Center (TIC) www.ita.doc.gov/tic is an interagency organization designed to assist the exporter in identifying programs to utilize. It also provides sources of data on other countries, trade agreements, the World Trade Organization, the Trade Compliance Center. A fax-on demand service (1-800-USA-TRADE) provides similar information.

Stat-USA, another service of Dept. of Commerce, is available on the Internet for a minimal fee (~ $50 for 3 months) per year or found in some researh libraries on CD-ROM.

Includes the Global Business Opportunities (GLOBUS) of trade leads and the National Trade Databank (NTDB). THE NTDB offers trade information from more than 20 federal sources. You do not need to know which specific Federal agency to contact for the data you are seeing.

In Stat-USA you will have access to:

  • Current press releases
  • Trade leads and opportunities
  • Exchange rates
  • International trade statistics

Under the Market and Country Research section you will find some useful industry reports.

  • Industry Sector Analysis (ISA) Reports regularly updated on a specific industry. Market potential, size, demand, competition, distribution methods, end-users, key industry contacts.
  • International Marketing Insights Commercial specialists at US embassies and consulates report on specific foreign market conditions and future opportunities for U.S. business.
  • Best Market Reports details the best markets (growth potential) in a specific country
  • Country Commercial Guide (CCG) Provide a comprehensive, detailed economic and market profile of a country. These guides are prepared annually. Leading markets, specific industry exports and their contact information, investment climate, how to market U.S. products & services, tradeshow event schedules. Contains references to ISAs and Best Markets.
